Sterilization and Disinfection Center

[ Sterilizing ]

Our office offers a large Sterilization and Disinfection Center utilizing the latest techniques and equipment to ensure patient safety. This Center guarantees that all dental instruments and equipment surpass the guidelines set forth by governmental ( OSHA and CDC ) and non-governmental ( American Dental Association and California Dental Association ) agencies.

[ Sterilizing ]

Our office uses a "cassette" system which eliminates unnesssary handling of individual instruments by the disinfection staff which helps to eliminate exposure to the instruments. These cassettes are then put through a series of cleaning procedures and then wrapped for final sterilization. Once sterilized each cassette has a marker which when properly sterilized changes color. These cassettes are only unwrapped once the patient has been seated and work is ready to begin.

We also employ an outside agencie to monitor our sterilization machines on a weekly basis. We feel you can never be too safe when it comes to patient safety!

Our office also has dental units in each treatment room which have self-contained water systems. These water systems utilize sterile water which simply means that any water going into your mouth while sitting for a procedure is sterile. These systems are flushed between patients. The system is also cleansed on a regular basis which reduces the amount of "biofilm" build-up to literally zero ( Biofilm is a thin layer of bacteria that adhere to the inside of pipes and dental tubing).
